Beaches
The unspoilt expanse of Whitsand Bay is just 15 mins drive east from Chy an Ula, as are the beaches of Portwrinkle, Downderry and Seaton, to the west. The livelier resorts of Looe, Polperro and Fowey are within 30 mins and the beautiful north coast of Cornwall is less than an hour away.
Attractions
The Eden Project – a ‘must-see’, with its biomes representing different plant kingdoms from around the world. Easily within reach at St. Austell.
The National Trust – you are spoilt for choice with 3 outstanding properties (Anthony House, Saltram and Cotehele) within 15 miles. Much of the coast and its footpath in this area is maintained by the Trust.
National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth is definitely worth a visit. Find out more at the website
Activities –
- There are many golf courses in the area including a Jack Nicklaus-designed, parkland course at nearby St Mellion (3 miles) and a links course at Whitsand Bay (5 miles).
- Anglers of all persuasions are catered for with sea, coarse and game fishing available in abundance. See Get Hooked and Angling 2000

- Devon and Cornwall are a walker’s paradise. Take a stroll on Plymouth Hoe, enjoy the stunning beauty of the South West Coast Path or lose yourself in the wilds of Bodmin Moor or Dartmoor.
Pubs & Restaurants
A gentle stroll from Chy-an-Ula takes you to the Bullers Arms in the heart of the village. Here you can enjoy bar meals, curry nights, quiz nights etc. A 2 mile drive and you are in Tideford where our favourite pub, the Rod & Line, serves the finest fresh crab claws and scallops in the land.
